CS2 used to be my favorite game. Now it feels more like a social experiment to see how much frustration one player can take before uninstalling.

And that’s what makes it even worse. When CS2 first released, it was a complete mess technically. Bugs everywhere, weird hitreg, random issues every match. But somehow, it was still fun. There were barely any cheaters, matches actually felt fair, and people just played the game. I had time off back then and put in over 160 hours in two weeks. It was chaotic, but it was probably the best time CS2 ever had.

Let’s start with the anti-cheat, or whatever Valve wants to call it. VAC Live is apparently this revolutionary system, except it only seems to work when a Valve employee is personally spectating your match. The rest of the time, you are up against players spinning like helicopters, prefiring through two walls, and casually deleting your team for 13 rounds straight. Very competitive. Very fair. Truly inspiring gameplay.

And the best part? You are stuck there. In a 5v5 competitive match against a blatant cheater, you have exactly zero options. You either sit through 15 to 45 minutes of pure nonsense, or you leave and get punished for it. Your trust factor drops, you get a cooldown, and somehow you are the problem. Getting trapped in a game that is obviously compromised and then being penalized for not wanting to waste your time is next level design. Absolutely brilliant.

But hey, at least we are getting important updates. More skins, more questionable community maps, and my personal favorite, you can now rescue dogs. Because when your competitive shooter is completely falling apart, the logical next step is clearly a virtual animal shelter. Priorities, right?

Premier matchmaking is another masterpiece. If you do not queue as a full five stack, you are basically volunteering for psychological damage. Communication? Optional. Teamplay? Nonexistent. Instead, you often end up with teammates who either do not communicate at all, or only use voice chat to argue, insult, or have full conversations in their own language with friends while the rest of the team is left out. So you mute them, because you have to, and now you are playing a team based competitive game in complete silence. Amazing design.

And honestly, I would just love to sit down for five minutes and ask "Lord Gaben" what the actual plan is here. What happened? Does anyone at Valve still care about the state of this game, or is everything just running on autopilot at this point? Is CS2 supposed to be a competitive shooter, or just a storefront with a matchmaking button attached? I genuinely want to know what is going on behind the scenes, because from the outside it feels like nobody is steering the ship anymore.

It is honestly impressive how far the competitive experience has fallen. The core community that made this game great feels completely ignored, while everything around it gets polished and monetized.

CS2 could have been incredible. Instead, it feels like a bad joke that just keeps going and somehow gets worse every time you queue.

Not recommended. Completely broken. Still my favorite game.

10/10 Cheater Simulator, if you ever want to play an FPS were 9 out of 10 matches have a spinbotter. This is the game for you! This small Dev team makes over 200k a year per person to do absolutely nothing to improve the quality of the game. All skins are community made, maps are community made.

They removed CSGO ( The only CS game to be removed) because they know what garbage CS2 is and most of the player base would just play CSGO, which would hurt their 9BN+ illicit skin trading and gambling infrastructure.

Counter-Strike is one of the most legendary games ever created. Almost everyone who has ever touched PC gaming knows its name.

Sadly, the biggest enemy in CS2 isn't the other team. It's the cheaters.

It is honestly unbelievable that one of the biggest competitive games in the world struggles with cheating more than many small indie multiplayer games.

Even worse, Valve still hasn't fully ported VAC to 64-bit after the transition from CS to CS2. Instead of improving anti-cheat, players are still meeting obvious cheaters every day.

Great gameplay.
Great mechanics.
Terrible anti-cheat.

A legendary game deserves legendary protection.

NO CHEATERS
JUST COUNTER-STRIKE

👍 if you think CS2 deserves an anti-cheat worthy of its legacy

This game has the most toxic fanbase I've ever seen. When the team starts to lose it becomes a contest of who can say the worst slur. Even worse, when the team is winning it turns into slur-bombing the enemy team. Needless to say, I haven't had this much fun since OG Black Ops 2 lobbies :)

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | 10/10 would willingly ruin my mental health again

Returned to Counter-Strike after taking a break long enough for Valve to invent, abandon, reinvent, and rename half the game.

I've got multiple thousands of hours dating back to the 0.3b days. I have survived dial-up internet, CRT monitors, LAN cafés that smelled like Monster Energy and despair, and teammates that communicated exclusively by screaming into £2 microphones.

Some things never change.

Counter-Strike is still the greatest point-and-click simulator ever created. The gameplay is so good that I've voluntarily signed myself up for another decade of emotional abuse.

Unfortunately, VAC is also still here, bravely defending the game with all the effectiveness of a mall security guard asking a tank to leave the premises.

The best part is that because I haven't played much recently, every match goes exactly the same:

Enemy: "lol 200 hours?"
Enemy: "reported"
Enemy: "enjoy ban"

Brother.

I have been playing Counter-Strike since your Steam account was still a sp3rm.

I don't have good aim because I'm cheating.

I have good aim because I've spent an unhealthy percentage of my life clicking on tiny moving heads instead of developing meaningful life skills.

It's called trauma-induced muscle memory.

Valve has been cooking though. The new bomb animation looks fantastic, the maps keep getting little improvements, and it's genuinely cool to see the game still evolving after all these years.

Now imagine if the anti-cheat evolved too.

Current matchmaking experience:

20% nostalgia.
30% getting called a cheater because I'm old.
40% wondering if the enemy has walls or just ascended to a higher plane of consciousness.
10% me whiffing an entire magazine and remembering I'm actually washed.

Counter-Strike is also the only game where:

You lose one pistol round and your teammates start discussing your family tree.
A Russian, a Swede, a Brazilian, and a guy eating crisps directly into his microphone somehow coordinate a perfect execute.
Five adults collectively forget the bomb exists.
Someone named xX_DarkLord420_Xx tells you you're unemployed after they've played 16 hours straight.

After all these years, the game is still incredible.

My only complaint is that the anti-cheat occasionally feels like it's running on thoughts and prayers.

10/10.

Uninstalled twice this week.

Played another 14 hours.

See you tomorrow.

On the premier/matchmaking level this game is clearly unplayable regardless of the trust factor. Obviously, Volvo cares only about cosmetics or new cases/armory skins, completely leaving the AC (spinbots, obvious cheaters) case behind. They clearly show they don't care about their users, they care only about money. Using third-party platforms like FACEIT to play in a "fair" way shouldn't be the necessarity.

TO ALL PLAYERS: WE SHOULD ALL START TO GIVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK TO FORCE THEM TO DO SOMETHING. STOP GIVING POSITIVE FEEDBACKS.

Be careful. Playing this game for too long might actually make you lose brain cells.

Premier and MM = cheater simulator.
Deathmatch = bot farming simulator.

At least people are still opening cases, so Valve keeps making money.

10/10 experience.

Valve doesn't care to make this game great like it once was. Anti-cheat is a joke. They only care about making money through cs as a gambling machine that gets children hooked from an early age.
